If in flood-prone areas (TX, NC, VA):
Stock 3+ days of drinking water and food.
Secure critical documents in waterproof containers.
Use NOAA weather radios for alerts.
Update any internet-connected software tools to prevent cyber compromise.
Practice route awareness: avoid underpasses and rural bridges when rain is forecast.
Review family communication and shelter-in-place plans.
9. Preparedness Focus of the Day
Rapid Flood Escape
“Never try to drive through water-covered roads. Just 12 inches can carry a vehicle.”

10. Gear Pick of the Day
Midland ER310 Emergency Crank Weather Radio
If you don’t already own a weather radio, you need one.
I tested this one on the Devils River…no cell service, no backup…and it worked. From Baker’s Crossing to the lake is about 47 miles of remote country. When you’re that far out, you realize real quick that information is survival.
This radio kept me in the loop when nothing else could. It’s now a permanent part of my kit.
Analyst Insight
This is a multi-front threat window: flood disasters in Texas and North Carolina, cyber strain on U.S. infrastructure, and unrest around sensitive federal sites. The posture is fragile and reactive. Readers in affected zones should remain alert, conserve power where advised, and keep their vehicles and bags prepped in case of sudden evacuation.
